No new SQL Server CUs till the end of 2020

SQL server team announced today that they will not be releasing any new cumulative update for SQL server products (SQL Server 2019, 2017, and 2016SP2) until the end of this year.

As written in this blog post, it’s been a tough year and is now a good time, around the holidays, for people to spend time with their families.

I personally find this move very kind and supportive and I wish for more companies to follow this paradigm.

So cheers to Microsoft, once again, and happy -early- Christmas holidays to everyone.

Microsoft recalls CU 7 for SQL Server 2019

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Microsoft is recalling CU7 for SQL 2019 because of a known reliability issue with the database snapshot feature.

If you haven’t installed it yet, it is advised not to install it, even if you don’t make use of this feature, as DBCC CHECKDB also uses it. Instead wait for the CU 8 which is scheduled for the week of October-12.
