August is time for holidays but not for the Microsoft SQL Engineering team, so on August 11, there was a new release for Cumulative Update 17 (KB5016394) for SQL Server 2019 running on Windows and Linux.
The CU affects both the SQL Server Engine as well as the Analysis Services.
The update includes 38 fixes since the CU16 release.
A downloadable Excel workbook that contains a summary list of builds, together with their current support lifecycle, is available for online viewing as well as a download here.
Really love this format and the information it carries for SQL Server versions ranging from 2005 up to the latest 2019!
Below are the details of the new product versions after applying the latest CU:
Service | Product Version | File Version |
---|---|---|
SQL Server | 15.0.4249.2 | 2019.150.4249.2 |
Analysis Services | 15.0.35.33 | 2018.150.35.33 |

As always, test before applying to production instances.
Happy patching!
